From ramps to red carpets, organza is having a serious moment in the fashion spotlight this summer as designers embrace the diaphanous fabric. No longer relegated to your shaadi wardrobe fashioned into awkward dupattas you don’t know what to do with, organza has had a major style makeover. From jackets and capelets to shirts and overlays, there are a number of trendy ways to incorporate the sheer gorgeousness of this fabric into your closet. Our fave A-listers show us how:
Mahira Khan
The Bin Roye star made a splash at a recently held press conference for the movie in a white organza top by Feeha Jamshed. While the ruffled front was likened (unfavourably) by many to a napkin, we think it was style risk that paid off. Mahira stood out in the crowd, and that’s what a true celebrity must always do.
Meesha Shafi
The Muse spring/summer collection as featured at the PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week (PSFW) consisted of structured organza jackets and tops that were a big hit. Meesha Shafi selected one of the most dramatic pieces from the collection for the PSFW red carpet, an embellished white jacket, and she wore it to perfection.
Nina Khan
Nina Khan, one half of the designer duo Nickie Nina, looked feminine and elegant in a white embroidered hooded cape from their PSFW collection. The sheer fabric adds a touch of drama to this classic white and black combo.
Natasha Kamal
The young designer made a noteworthy debut at PSFW and the ruffled organza featured in the collection caught our eye for being fun and flirty. The vibrant red organza of this top makes a nice change from the pristine white avatar one usually sees the fabric in.
Nabila
Cool and crisp, Nabila’s all-black look at PSFW featured black culottes and an interesting half-shirt/half cape top. Keeping the ensemble minimal, she let her scarlet pout and trendy eyewear do all the talking.
Sara Tabani
Wearing one of sister Sania Maskatiya’s organza tops from her standout PSFW collection, Sara Tabani looks super-cute and girly. We love the unusual colour, the wraparound silhouette and the hint of a gold accent.
