SHORT          CUTS

WHat            Turnaround Trend

WHERE          Everywhere

Last year saw the ‘midi’ get back into the fashion scene in full throttle. This year the short and sweet tea-length has taken a 180 degree turn to the top-half of the outfit. While the ‘elegant’ flares continue to be worn with great persistence by conformists, local designers are striving hard to change trends, and boy, are we glad! We understand the goddess appeal associated with voluminous outfits but short and structured tunics are a better way to enhance your body shape. Want to know where to get hold of some trendy ones? Here are our picks:

Sania Maskatiya is known to design outfits that take inspiration from various different regions around the world. Her usual intention is to bring out the essence of a culture in her designs and express it in the form of print. Part of her African-inspired Kuamka collection for PFDC Fashion Week, the asymmetrical tunic is for the bold and the fierce. While Sania has paired it with her signature printed pants, we’d suggest to counter the brightness with something more solid.

Khaadi
Khaadi has definitely become a hot favourite amongst women of all ages and while the brand tends to put out all lengths for all ages, their shorter tunics are popular with the younger generation. This particular floral printed tunic from Khaadi’s Pret collection can be worn with stitched pants as well as a pair of jeans. While the boxy cut may not suit all body types, it is perfect for the summer heat.
