Armani’s design philosophy shone through despite designer’s Milan absence

espite the absence of Giorgio Armani from his Milan show due to health issues, his design philosophy ran through every thread of his Men’s Spring Ready-To-Wear 2026 collection. This was classic Armani—a lesson in unobtrusive luxury that reminded us why the house is still equated with the pinnacle of style.

The show opened with a neutral palette worthy of an Armani presentation, the ever-so-delicately calibrated greige tones that have become almost a signature of his.

Supple shoulders and flowing silhouettes were the main themes, with jackets that floated with ease and without restraint. The ingenious paradox of the designer—structure that appeared unstructured, formal that seemed casual.

Fabrication was where the collection came alive: gentle suedes paired with silk linings, linens of light-as-air weight that were almost sculptural.

Colour was present throughout the show, from warm earth shades at the start to Mediterranean-infused tones later in the collection. Dusty blues reminded one of Amalfi skies, with terracotta and sage green touches evoking the olive groves and sun-kissed walls. This wasn’t just seasonal dressing—it was emotion transferred into clothing. Oversized blazers were choreographed to dance with loose and flowing trousers, while the accessories were unmistakable ambassadors of the house’s devotion to craftsmanship.

Leo Dell’Orco’s closing bow—the style director for the men’s lines—acknowledged what everyone already knew: this collection required neither an explanation nor a defense. It was Armani clothing for men who know that luxury resides not in show, but in the sense of self-assurance. In a time of fashion chaos, this was a soft-spoken reminder of what quietness and subtlety actually mean.
