Prime Minister Modi, consumed by electoral desperation and an ideology rooted in ultra-nationalism, deliberately escalated tensions with Pakistan

ast week, the South Asian region was again on the brink of nuclear war; again due to India’s provocative and unlawful actions across the international border. The Modi-led government in New Delhi, consumed by electoral desperation and an ideology rooted in ultra-nationalism, deliberately escalated tensions with Pakistan, threatening the stability of the entire region. By violating Pakistan’s airspace and attempting to impose a false narrative of dominance, India committed blatant aggression.
Pakistan, a responsible nuclear state, showed maturity, restraint and unwavering resolve in the face of Indian belligerence. The Pakistan Air Force, in a show of professional excellence, responded decisively to India’s misadventure. The downing of Indian fighter jets not only reaffirmed PAF’s operational supremacy over the Indian Air Force but also served as a stern warning that any violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty will be met with a firm and proportional response.
The Indian miscalculation stems from a broad strategy of war-mongering, designed to distract domestic audiences from a rapidly declining economy; worsening human rights abuses in Indian-occupied Kashmir; and rising internal dissent. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has repeatedly used anti-Pakistan rhetoric as a tool for political mileage. This dangerous tactic has now crossed a red line, bringing the subcontinent to the edge of conflict between two nuclear-armed powers.
The world has taken note. Independent analysts, think tanks and international media outlets have questioned the authenticity of India’s claims. The strikes and cross-border attack have been exposed as theatrical fabrications meant to manipulate public sentiment. Global observers have lauded Pakistan’s responsible conduct and have urged restraint. They are increasingly concerned about India’s blatant disregard for international norms.
India’s actions are not isolated incidents. They reflect a consistent pattern of aggression and expansionism. From sponsoring terror proxies within Pakistan to using disinformation campaigns to malign Islamabad, New Delhi has time and again proven to be the principal obstacle to peace in South Asia. Its continued military build-up, hostile posture towards all its neighbours and subversion of multilateral diplomacy undermine every regional initiative aimed at cooperation and development.
Pakistan, in contrast, demonstrated its commitment to peace and stability. Prime Minister and the Foreign Office officials repeatedly extended offers of dialogue and de-escalation. The government also welcomed third-party mediation. Yet, every gesture of goodwill was met with hostility from India.

The nation of Pakistan stands united. Political leadership, civil society and the masses have expressed complete solidarity with the armed forces. The country’s military leadership has assured the public that Pakistan will never compromise on its sovereignty and will respond forcefully to any further aggression. In mosques, universities, marketplaces and homes, there is a palpable sense of patriotism and defiance.
India must realise that its pursuit of regional hegemony through intimidation and military adventurism will backfire. The threat of war between nuclear powers cannot be ignored. Even a limited conflict carries the potential for catastrophic consequences. The world must act now, not just to de-escalate the current crisis, but also to hold India accountable for its irresponsible conduct.
The international community, especially the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and major global powers, must urge India to halt its aggression and return to the path of diplomacy. Silence in the face of such recklessness is complicity. Global peace cannot be hostage to the whims of an extremist regime.
Pakistan does not seek war. The nation is focused on development, education, poverty alleviation and regional connectivity. But peace cannot come at the cost of dignity and sovereignty. Pakistan’s history is replete with sacrifices for its independence and freedom. Today, it stands ready to defend itself with full resolve.
The latest episode is a stark reminder of the volatility that persists in South Asia. Unless India changes course and chooses peace over provocation, the region will continue to suffer. Pakistan, as always, remains committed to constructive engagement—but it will not be bullied, provoked, or silenced.
The war hysteria, coupled with India’s use of terror proxies and disinformation, remains the core challenge to peace in South Asia. The people of Pakistan, the guardians of our frontiers and our leadership have made it clear: any future aggression will be met with an even stronger response.
The path forward is one of diplomacy, mutual respect and adherence to international law. For the sake of future generations, India must abandon its aggressive doctrine and acknowledge that peace with Pakistan is not a sign of weakness, but a shared responsibility.
Let the world remember: in the face of aggression, Pakistan stood firm, acted responsibly and emerged with its dignity intact. Our resolve is unshaken, our forces unmatched and our people undivided.
