anishing Points exhibition by Imran Qureshi, curated by Nada Raza and supported by Nature Morte Gallery, ran at the Concrete Gallery until April 20 and served as the main event under the theme A Wild Stitch.

Qureshi, a significant artist in South Asian contemporary art, was celebrated for reinterpreting traditional Mughal miniature paintings.

In Vanishing Points, he subverted the traditional one-point perspective of miniature art by combining it with modern methods, such as street photography and lens-based media.

The centrepiece of the show was a large-scale — site-specific installation titled Opening Word of this New Scripture —which transformed one wall of the iconic OMA-designed building into a colourful manuscript using Indo-Persian patterns interwoven with nylon rope and interactive seating elements.

The exhibition also displayed major international pieces making their regional debut.

These included Still/Moving (2019), a video installation that mirrored sacred moments using a mirrored Kaaba mosaic; Deen o Duniya (2022), an immersive mirrored room lit with spectacular LED patterns, and This Shared Vision, Yours and Mine (2018–2024) —the latter, a series of photographs that explored perception and dimensionality.

Qureshi’s work is steeped in symbolism. His practice bridges traditional miniature art with contemporary media like video and photography, creating a multidimensional and socially engaging body of work that invites reflection on beauty, conflict, and transformation.

This exhibition marks Qureshi’s return to the UAE in seven years, reaffirming his position as a leading voice in global contemporary art.

Imran Qureshi is a trailblazing visual artist, painter, and instructor with more than three decades of experience. He is a graduate of Lahore’s National College of Arts (NCA), where he currently heads the miniature painting department.

His work addresses various themes including violence, resilience, and social change, using delicate brushwork and vibrant colour to provoke thought and dialogue.

He has exhibited globally at prestigious venues like the Barbican Centre in London, The Met in New York, and the Islamic Art Biennale in Jeddah. His honours include Deutsche Bank’s Artist of the Year, the U.S. State Department’s Medal of Arts, and France’s Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters. He has also received the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, one of Pakistan’s highest civilian awards.
