This March, Holi in Lahore was a touch more festive for those celebrating than before. Ahead of this festival of colours, the federal government announced allocation of a sum of Rs 300 million for the preservation and development of gurdwaras and Hindi mandirs across the country. Sindh had already declared two holidays for Hindu employees in the province. In Lahore, Holi is celebrated mainly at Krishna Mandir, on Ravi Road. It’s an annual event organised by the Evacuee Trust Property Board. Holi activities include playing with coloured powders, called gulaal; singing, dancing, getting together and enjoying sweetmeats.
