‘Dil Se’ is an iconic song so performing it live is risky business. Remember Arjiit Singh’s cover of ‘Pasoori’ and the criticism that followed?

However, Atif Aslam has grown by leaps and bounds as a vocalist in the last two decades, and we are never surprised by his versatility. Covering an A.R. Rahman song is no easy feat, yet Atif performed it so beautifully that his cover is now trending across multiple social media platforms. Atif shared the cover on his Instagram, noting: “Some masterpieces y’all wanted to hear LEKIN, dil hai to dard bhi to ho ga na. P.S. Thank you for loving Channa.”

At least one fan has uploaded a video featuring a side-by-side comparison of the original ‘Dil Se’ music video and Atif’s cover from his Dubai show. Whether you watch the comparison or just Atif’s version, one thing will become obvious — Atif Aslam is only getting better with time. Great artists can take any song and cover it without diminishing the value of the original, and Atif did just that.
