During a podcast, actor Saud provided a critical analysis behind the decline of Lollywood

P

rominent Pakistani actor Saud, recently shared a critical pers-pective on the decline of Lollywood during an app-earance on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast. Speaking candidly, Saud attributed the industry’s downfall to several prominent figures, including acclaimed actor Shaan Shahid and film-maker Syed Noor.

Saud Qasmi, a seasoned TV and film actor and producer, received acclaim for his roles in dramas such as Baby Baji, Muhabbat Starangi, and Baby Baji ki Bahuwain.

Reflecting on the abysmal state of Lollywood, Saud compared its current struggles to its former glory and highlighted key reasons for its collapse. “Many actors and filmmakers played a role in Lollywood’s decline, but in my view, Shaan and Syed Noor bear the greatest responsibility,” he remarked. Further addressing Shaan, Saud urged the veteran actor to introspect and prioritize self-improvement. “Shaan should focus on addressing his own shortcomings before criticizing others,” he said.

While holding Shaan and Syed Noor accountable, Saud acknowledged that the collec-tive actions of actors and filmmakers, including himself, played a part in Lollywood’s struggles. He expressed regret, suggesting that greater effort from influential figures could have prevented the industry’s decline. Discussing the broader issues in Lollywood, Saud accused Shaan, Syed Noor, and others of prioritizing personal gains over professionalism. He claimed that multiple projects were mismanaged, with actors —including himself—juggling several films at once, ultimately damaging the industry.

He recounted a pivotal decision he made alongside Moammar Rana and Shaan to avoid films promoting violence and guns. Despite their agreement, Saud alleged that Shaan and Rana continued signing such projects, which led to Saud being boycotted by producers. “I refused to participate in those films, moved to Karachi, and got married,” he concluded. Syed Noor and Shaan Shahid have not commented on Saud’s accu-sations. But props to Saud for owning his part in the downfall of Lollywood and saying no to promoting violence.
