Getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, receiving a six-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival, and serving as one of the co-chairs of the recently concluded Costume Institute’s Met Gala, this is the year for the Aussie actor who has stepped down from the role of Marvel’s Thor for a renewed acting career.

fter four standalone Thor films and four Avengers films, Chris Hemsworth, the God of Thunder, has stepped down from the role of the King of Asgard to become one of the most bankable (and fashion-forward) actors in Hollywood.

Put him in a bespoke cream suit, or a baby pink one, an all-black outfit, or a colorful magenta pink shirt, he can pull it off so well that you wonder if there is anyone else in Hollywood (other than the much younger Timothee Chalamet) who can do it, let alone do it so well and look as dapper. That’s a rhetorical question.

Rocking red carpets around the world at events as diverse as Cannes to CinemaCon, Chris Hemsworth has shown that he can wear anything he wants, take on roles that scare him, and still impress critics and fans alike. The Extraction franchise was just the start. It is Furiosa: A Mad Max Story that tested him much more than all of his Marvel films combined, earning him the respect of his peers. He will be the voice of Optimus Prime in the upcoming Transformers film among other future projects. For now, all eyes are on Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and the actor has passed all tests and impressed co-stars, industry insiders and the film’s visionary director, George Miller, along the way.

Having appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair, he talks about how certain genetic disposition were twisted to such a degree by the paparazzi that it fueled rumors that his career was all but over. However, while the actor is back home in Australia now, his undeniable charm, smart film and fashion choices are just some of the reasons why he is still in the news.

Vanity Fair

In a Vanity Fair interview, Chris Hemsworth talks about his upbringing in Australia, the roles he lost to actors such as Tom Hardy, and how he competed with at least nine other actors before getting the role of Thor. In this photo, he is seen wearing a shirt and belt by Ralph Lauren Purple Label, jeans by A.P.C., boots by The Frye Company, and a vintage tank top from The Society Archive.

Look effortless in
corduroy

Attending a photocall for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga in Australia, the 40-year-old is wearing an Italian fashion brand called Canali’s corduroy blazer and trousers that echo the aesthetic of his film. The corduroy blazer and trousers combine a casual and rugged feel, perfect to promote the fifth film in the Mad Max franchise, especially with the brown boots.

Hollywood Walk of
Fame spot

Everything seems to be working out for Chris Hemsworth in 2024. Just last month, the actor, who recently turned 40, got his own spot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Apart from his family, including his wife Elsa Pataky, twin sons Sasha and Tristan (10), parents Leonie and Craig Hemsworth, all of whom were attending the special day for the actor, his Mad Max Saga co-star Anya Taylor-Joy, as well as director George Miller also turned up with the latter calling him “a great actor” and “a great human being.”

But the highlight of the ceremony was Mr. Robert Downey Jr., who gave a speech infused with his inherent wit as he spoke about Hemsworth. He also got some of his Avengers co-stars to describe the actor in three words. Jeremy Renner noted “absurdly annoyingly amazing,” Mark Ruffalo offered “friend from work,” Scarlett Johansson quipped “sensitive leading lady,” and Chris Evans added “second best Chris.”

For all the tribute and the quips, the best words came from Chris Hemsworth, who took this moment to pay tribute to his wife, Elsa Pataky. The actor said, “I want to say thank you to my beautiful wife, who has been here for my entire career basically by my side, endlessly encouraging and supportive. And it doesn’t get lost on me that she put aside her own dreams in order to support mine and, again, [I am] forever in your debt.”

“The fact [is] that nothing that I do, any of these moments, these special occasions and events, none of it is special without you by my side. I love you,” he added.

Going casual in black

For all the bespoke suits Chris Hemsworth has donned, he is just as comfortable sporting casual looks. This includes an oversized black jacket with plenty of pockets, a black shirt with no tie (a signature style for him), a silver chain that’s not too flashy, paired with black pants and black shoes. He wore this outfit for a promotional event for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, looking casual and polished. He gets points for not making a fashion faux pas on the red carpet.
