mna Ilyas and Junaid Khan are not happy with the theatrical release of Hum Tum Aur Woo. Both actors, who play central roles in the production, noted in a social media post that HTAW was never meant to be released in cinemas because it was created as a telefilm.

To that end, both actors have released a joint statement threatening legal action.

It was Amna Ilyas who first shared a note about the production being a telefilm and not a cinematic project.

The critically acclaimed actor wrote in a post, “Recently, it has come to my attention that there are plans to release Hum Tum Aur Woo in cinemas, transitioning it into a format beyond original scope.

“Many people are asking me why I am not promoting this project. The main reason is that it’s not a feature film for cinema. It’s not produced like a film.”

Amna stated that despite changes to certain technical elements initially promised during the project’s pitch, she chose to continue her role in the production, prioritizing professionalism and delivering her best performance as an actor, avoiding any perception of being difficult. She noted that she couldn’t let this matter slide because the production was taken to the big screen when it was never meant for it.

“This isn’t about the quality of our work or the dedication of the team, but rather about staying true to the original essence of the script and the commitments that were made.”

“I urge everyone involved in the distribution process not to release this [project] in cinemas as it’s a clear breach of trust and contract with the talent. We have initiated legal proceedings, and any parties involved in the breach of trust may be subject to potential legal action for damages.”

After Amna Ilyas post, a complaint was filed with the chairman of Pakistan Film Producers Association (PFPA). The same note was sent to PFPA, but this time around, it was also signed by Junaid Khan, in addition to Amna Ilyas.
