ANSWERS

1. ‑C) Sunny Khan Durrani’s biggest hit, in terms of numbers, is an original song from his extensive body of work called ‘La Haasil’. Since releasing, it has surpassed 4 million views on YouTube, more than 3.5 million hits on Spotify and another 6.6 million hits on SoundCloud.

2. ‑D) Who are we kidding? It is, without question, ‘Pasoori’ from Coke Studio 14, which released in 2022. Under various music producers, Coke Studio has released several songs that have gone on to achieve millions in numbers but no song has been able to surpass the original hit, ‘Pasoori’ by Ali Sethi and Shae Gill with 687 million views on YouTube since releasing in February 2022. It was also the most googled song of the year.

3. ‑ A) Khuda Kay Liye, which released in 2007 and was directed by Shoaib Mansoor addressed the issue of Islamophobia that was a direct consequence of 9/11 terror attacks in America. It was also a box office hit, especially when you take into account the fact that the revival of Pakistani cinema, hadn’t begun.

4. ‑ A) The Legend of Maula Jatt, obviously. It may have taken years for the film to release but once it did, there was no stopping it from success. It broke several records including being the most successful Pakistani film to date as well as most successful Punjabi-language film. With an all-star cast, the Bilal Lashari film even surpassed the original film that released in the ‘70s. An adaptation by Nasir Adeeb of the original characters, the film even broke records of three Indian films that released at the time and even a media outlet like CNN took note.
