The best of the worst
Last week was all about style. Between the Hum Style Awards and the three-day Fashion Pakistan Week predicting trends for Winter/Festive 2016, we had stylistas and fashionistas of every age, size and colour turn up on the red carpets in what should have been an explosion of high end style. Unfortunately the reality was displaced from perception. That honeycomb backdrop on the Hum Style Awards red carpet and the lackluster, lack of presence of any real style at FPW had us worried; the Turkish lounges dedicated to Urdu1’s upcoming play Kosem Sultan distrubed the aesthetics on another level altogether. And when it came to celebrity style, we saw more bad and good. Here are four of the worst…
Yasir Nawaz
Okay, so director Yasir Nawaz isn’t exactly known for his style (or movies, for that matter) but what in the world compelled him to wear that explosive shirt under his jacket is beyond our understanding. Coming from a musician we would have understood the need to dress out of the box but Nawaz’s personal style isn’t exactly risqué. He should have stuck to safe.
Saba Qamar
We don’t know what Saba Qamar was wearing and most definitely why she chose to wear this unsightly frock that did absolutely nothing for the ‘wannabe rock star’ character she is playing in upcoming Lahore Se Aagey. Wannabe, yes. Rock star, definitely not.
Minal and Aiman Khan
Television starlets, Minal and Aiman Khan may have impressed you with their performances on television but they definitely left a lot to be desired on the red carpet. We didn’t really get why they chose to appear like damsels stuck in fish-catching nets. We don’t even know whether they were entangled in one net or could be separated.
Sana Bucha
We tried and finally, after many hours of searching, found the petite Sana Bucha under the volume of that voluminous dress. It was her, although the big florettes on her gown could have fooled us into believing she was the antithesis of a Disney princess at a Halloween party.
