Chocolate decadence, from the creaminess of white to the depth of dark, was indulged into at the Magnum Party 16 this week. This year’s theme was surrealism and played on the eccentricities of Salvador Dali, inspiring designers to go wild with their imaginations. Many of them dressed the part, sticking to brown as the new black or white as the purest of all forms. Here are our favourite looks from the brown carpet, rippling like the layers of an ice cream cone, maybe not so intentionally though! All images courtesy: Instagram.
Nilofer Shahid
Nilofer Shahid is Queen of Couture for good reason and that reason is her understanding of history. Her capsule was a spectacular depiction of Salvador Dali’s work and she herself chose to wear an outfit layered in the same ecru, organic karandi/jute fabric that she used in her capsule. It was quintessential Nilofer Shahid.
Syra Shehroze
Syra, a guest at the Magnum Party, stuck to a bone tone, ecru sheath by Muse and she looked lovely. Though her outfit was slightly over-sized, the gold metal belt prevented it from looking baggy and the cold shoulders took the focus away from the shapelessness of silhouette to the shapeliness of her shoulders. Her finger dried hair and minimal makeup completed the look perfectly.
Shameel
Shamaeel’s collection opened the four-part presentation and took love as a surrealistic motif, tying it up with the love for chocolate. "You eat chocolate when in love and also in heartbreak," she explained and her collection did full justice to the romance of her designs. She herself chose to wear a fuss free, pure white tunic draped around the bodice, allowing the focus to stay on romanticism. Very classic and very chic.
Wardha Saleem
Wardha had fun with the theme and went all out on brown, playing up shades of coffee and cream in her tunic and caramel in her trousers. The asymmetric proportions of that silhouette were interesting and she dressed it up more than perfectly with gold accessories. While we’re appreciating her overall look, Wardha credits her trainer, Mantaha, for the level of fitness she has achieved.
