We would be forgiven for thinking that nothing happened, in Pakistan, other than Ramazan transmissions and Eid exhibitions but there was all that and more; and every now and then someone would come up with a style statement that merited attention. We couldn’t help but look across border for some ‘stylspiration’ as well; Anushka Sharma just looked that good. And of course, we’ve been following Hadiqa Kiani as she treks up north to the Kaghan Valley.
Sanam Saeed
Sanam Saeed has a very unique sense of style. She can go completely western and she can also turn completely eastern and be equally at ease in both avatars. We spotted her in one of her lesser-frequented choice of ensemble, the sari, which she wore to a television program last week. This Feeha Jamshed silk sari was an interesting play of colour and print and Sanam, with her height and poise, managed to carry it with aplomb. Her side swept hair does lend her a Rekha air, don’t you think?
Anushka Sharma
She’s usually one to go for a western look but Anushka had us at the word ‘Sabyasachi Mukherjee’ when she turned up in this zardozi-crafted Anarkali for promotions of her upcoming film, Sultan. Her unsmiling face (which could have something to do with the fact that she had to stand next to Salman Khan) carried a severe hairdo and gorgeous earrings. Without an inch of skin on display, this was a rare look for the usually risqué actor, and she pulled it off.
Urwa Hocane
Making headlines these days for her brilliant performance in Udaari, Urwa turned to her love for everything ethnic when she posted images of herself in front of this gloriously crafted truck-art door. She’s donned a non-descript kurta from East Breakout but it’s the expression of confidence that she’s wearing that we love more. Urwa really has come unto her own with Udaari and she may not be a style icon (we can’t forget her Princess Leia look) but she is a talent to look out for!
Hadiqa Kiani
We followed Hadiqa Kiani on her trip up north, thanks to the connectivity that social media lends us. The age-defying and evergreen singer looked youthful and happy as she posted this image; she was florescent in this lime green tunic with sneakers that had laces to match. "Unintentionally advertising a fish restaurant," she captioned the picture before heading up north to the picturesque Kaghan Valley. We love the sunshine that she carries in her stride and the topknot she carries on her head…very stylish!
