Suleman stuns Mansoor in marathon squash final
KARACHI: Second seed Suleman Saleem pulled off an impressive upset win against favourite Mansoor Zaman in the final of boys U19 event in National Junior Squash Championship 2016 which concluded at Rehana Nazar Squash Complex in Rashidabad (Tandoallahyar).
Suleman won the first set 11-6 but Mansoor made a strong comeback and won the next two sets, 11-7 and 11-6.
Suleman was not in a mood to lose the match and won the remaining two sets to record 11-6, 7-11, 6-11, 11-6, 11-6 victory.
Suleman received a cash prize of Rs11,400, while Mansoor pocketed Rs7,800.
In girls Under-19 final, favourite Madina Zafar took only 19 minutes to beat second seed Noor ul Huda, recording a convincing 11-6, 11-4, 11-4 victory.
She got Rs9,500, while Noor received Rs6,500.
In boys Under-17 climax, top seed Abbas Zaib overcame stubborn Abdul Malik 11-7, 12-14, 11-5, 3-11, 11-3. Abbas received Rs9,500 and unseeded Malik was awarded Rs6,500.
Top seed Talha Alam was taken to full-stretch of the game by second seed Uzair Shaukat before he won the boys Under-15 final by 11-6, 8-11, 11-5, 8-11, 11-5 score. He received Rs7,600, while Uzair bagged Rs5,200.
In Boys Under-13 summit clash, Mohammad Asadullah defeated unseeded Ali Sher 11-9, 8-11, 11-8, 11-2. Asad received Rs5,700, while Ali got Rs3,900.
In Boys Under-11 final, top seed Ammad recovered from a set down to beat Huzaifa 7-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-5.
Ammad received Rs5,700, while Huzaifa collected Rs3,900. Komal Khan defeated Amna Fayyaz 4-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-6 to claim girls Under-15 title. Komal was given Rs7600, while Amna received Rs5,200.
