Pak hockey players, officials to get Rs500,000 each
South Asian Games gold
KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has decided to award the team and officials of Pakistan Whites who won the gold medal in the South Asian Games 2016 in Guwahati a couple of days back.
The Green-shirts completed a hat-trick of gold medals in South Asian Games, as they defeated India for the third time in the final. They previously beat the arch-rivals in 2006 and 2010 finals.
Pakistan had also defeated India in the group match.
Sources said that PHF president Brig (retd) Khalid Khokhar called on Sharif, who is also the patron in chief of PHF, at the PM House on Monday.
The sources said the PM expressed satisfaction on the performance of Pakistan Whites and said the government would award each player and official Rs500,000 for winning the gold medal.
