Two sisters killed in road accident

BAHAWALPUR: Two sisters were crushed to death by a car near Sharifabad on Bahawalpur Bypass on Thursday.
Iqra, 13, her sister Fiza, 11, and their relative Alia, all residents of Goth Ghani, were on way home from the Government Elementary School when a car hit them. As a result, Iqra and Fiza were killed on the spot while Alia was injured. The injured student was shifted to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital. Sadr police have arrested the driver after impounding his car.
MAN DIES: An old man died after seeing condition of his daughter, who was allegedly tortured by her husband at Minchinabad on Wednesday night.
Imran allegedly tortured his wife Naila over a domestic dispute. She was shifted to the Bahawalnagar DHQ Hospital in a critical condition. On information, Naila’s parents and relatives also reached the hospital. According to Saima, sister of the victim, their father Faizullah died after seeing the critical condition of Naila. Khalid Hussain, brother-in-law of the victim, said that Imran allegedly tortured his wife as she lodged her protest on his intention of contracting second marriage. Meanwhile, the doctors referred the victim to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital due to her critical condition. When contacted, Minchinabad SHO Pervez Akhtar said that he had still not received any complaint in this regard. He, however, said that police have started investigation.
