Man attempts suicide outside Gujranwala CPO Office

GUJRANWALA: A man attempted suicide against the police for not arresting accused persons involved in a fraud case outside the CPO Office here on Saturday.
Abdul Rauf of Dhulley said that he sold his house to accused Mehmood Butt and Asif Butt but they gave him a bogus cheque, which was dishonoured by the concerned bank. He said that he contacted with the Model Town police for action against the accused persons but the police did not take action even after passing of four years. Later, Abdul Rauf along with his father, wife and children reached outside the CPO Office and attempted suicide by self-immolation. However, the police foiled his bid. Later, on the assurance of the police that action would be taken against the accused persons, he ended his protest.
DACOITS ON THE RAMPAGE: Dacoits took away cash, cell phones and other valuables in 17 incidents here on Saturday.
Four dacoits intercepted Abdul Hafiz and snatched Rs 36,000 and a cell phone at Alipur while bandits looted cash and a cell phone from Noman at Ferozewala. Mohsin was deprived of Rs 16,000 and two cell phones at Gakhar Mandi while dacoits took away a motorcycle of Fazal Abbas. Bandits looted Rs 17,000 and a cell phone from Sardar at Ferozewala while armed men snatched Rs 16,000 and a cell phone from Qasim at Sadar Kamoke. Robbers took away Rs 9,000 and two cell phones from Abdul Jabbar at Ludhewala Warraich while Anwar was deprived of Rs 13,000 and a cell phone at Sadar Wazirabad. Armed men took away Rs 22,000 and a cell phone from Naveed while stealers took away a car of Qasim at Sohdra. Thieves stole bikes of Hashim, Asif, Qamar, Ashiq, Noor, Nazir and Naveed from different parts of the city.
COMMITS SUICIDE: A married woman committed suicide at Mandial Warraich on Saturday.
Faiqa ended her life by taking poisonous pills. The motive behind the incident is said to be a domestic dispute.
4 FALL UNCONSCIOUS: Four people fell unconscious after receiving electric shocks on Nowshera Road on Saturday.
Pervez was carrying iron rods on a donkey-cart when suddenly the donkey-cart overturned. On seeing this, passers-by Sarfraz, Tanvir and Sami tried to help Pervez. In the meantime, iron rods touched with electric wires. As a result, all four persons received severe electric shocks and fell unconscious.
