Demonstration against Wapda privatisation

BAHAWALPUR: Hundreds of Mepco Bahawalpur circle employees Tuesday staged a protest demonstration under All Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Workers Union against proposed privatisation of Wapda.
The protesters gathered outside the Mepco Bahawalpur complex and took out the protest rally from Wapda Complex to DPO office Chowk.
The protesters were addressed by union Zonal chairman Fayyaz Khan, Zonal president Sheikh Mehmood Ahmad, Muhammad Shafi Saleem, Zulfiqar Zulfi, Tariq Khan and many others. They vowed not to allow anyone to privatise the Wapda power distribution companies.
Mepco Bahawalnagar circle employees also staged protest demonstration outside the Wapda complex Bahawalnagar and raised slogans against the government and its privatisation policy.
Meanwhile, Mepco Rahimyar Khan circle employees staged a demonstration outside Wapda office and raised slogans against privatisation plan.
TRADER LOOTED: Robbers Tuesday took away valuables from the house of a trader. Dacoits barged into the house of trader Sohail Rizwan of Jinnah Town, Sadiqabad, and held up the family. They collected cash and gold ornaments and fled.
