Qadri calls for joint protest against govt
LAHORE
Condemning the firing on PIA workers in Karachi, Pakistan Awami Tehreek Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri has said had justice been provided in the Model Town tragedy, the wolves would not have done what they did by firing and killing of innocent protesting PIA workers in Karachi, stated a press release issued by PAT Media Cell on Tuesday.
Registering his protest the PAT chairman expressed grief over the loss of lives and injuries to other workers at the hands of law enforcing agencies. He said that those who were bent upon selling state institutions were behind the killings of PIA workers in Karachi. He said the rulers wanted to give all state-owned institutions to their favourites and relatives at throwaway prices but the PAT would resist all such moves and bring the barbarity of the rulers before the public.
Addressing PAT leaders via phone from Canada, Dr Tahirul Qadri invited all the opposition parties to join forces and launch a joint protest movement against these rulers and their policies. He said the rulers were bent upon selling state institutions at throwaway prices to their relatives. He instructed PAT workers to hold protest demonstrations not only in Karachi but all over the country against the killing of PIA workers.
Later, an emergency meeting was held at the Model Town secretariat of PAT which was chaired by Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur. The meeting condemned the killings of PIA workers in Karachi. He alleged that the federal minister openly threatened the protesting PIA workers declaring that they would be sacked and all the others would never be given jobs if they did not attend office.
Addressing Major (r) Saeed appealed before the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Chief of the Army Staff to take action against those who were hurling threats openly. He said the barbarity of these rulers must be exposed and legal action must be initiated against them. The meeting prayed for the departed souls of those PIA workers killed in Karachi on Tuesday.
