Call for cementing agri, cultural ties between Pakistan, France

FAISALABAD: French Embassy Scientific and Cultural Affairs Counsellor Andre de Bussy has called for further cementing agricultural, academic and cultural ties between Pakistan and France to get benefit from each other experiences.
He said this during a meeting with University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice-Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan here on Monday. He said that they would help the UAF promote Cheese culture in the country. He said that they would also help the UAF in research and promotion activities of pasteurized milk. He said that agriculture was contributing 21 per cent to the gross domestic product of Pakistan and majority of the people were associated with the sector.
Director Alliance Francaise Stephen Gaillard said that all-out efforts were being made to bring both nations closer with the cultural exchange programmes.
Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that most of the milk trade in the country was of raw milk which was unhygienic. He said that development and promotion of pasteurized milk was the need of hour to ensure provision of quality milk to the people.
Faculty of Food, Nutrition and Home Sciences Dean Dr Masood Sadiq Butt said that malnutrition was hitting nearly half of the population of the country. He said that two batches of French courses had been completed at the UAF. Dr Aamir Shahzad said that the third French language course would begin next month.
