Demo against custodial killing
From Our Correspondent
GUJRANWALA: Relatives of a youth, who was allegedly tortured to death by police, Friday staged a demonstration against police and blocked GT Road for about three hours.
The protesters said Zaman of Rajkot was arrested by Jinnah Road police some three weeks ago and they were not told about his arrest. They said when mother of Zaman approached the court, the police told the court that Zaman was detained but he died in hospital due to a heart attack. However, the judge ordered the exhumation. When the relatives got the body they reached GT Road and started protest against police and blocked the road for about three hours causing severe troubles to road users. Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully when they were assured that a strict action would be initiated against the guilty police officials.
