People take to streets against
gas loadshedding in Faisalabad
Warn of besieging offices of MPs

FAISALABAD: Hundreds of people, including women and children, staged demonstrations against gas loadshedding in different areas of the city on Monday.
The protesters carrying clubs and sticks blocked different roads for more than two hours. They were chanting slogans against the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited. The residents of Yousaf Town, Elahiabad, Shahzad Colony, Najaf Colony, Rehman Town and other localities on Satiana Road said that they had been without gas for the last two weeks. They said that the gas suspension had forced them to buy Roti and cooked food from the hotels.
Meanwhile, the residents of Batala Colony, People’s Colony C-Block, Sania Park, Phawara Chowk, Maqbool Road, Allama Iqbal Colony and other areas also took out a rally and blocked Samundri Road for two hours. They also staged a sit-in on the road and chanted slogans against the government and the SNGPL. They also chanted slogans against the MNAs and MPAs of their areas. They warned them of besieging their offices if the gas supply was not restored. They also gave a two-day deadline to the SNGPL for restoring gas supply to their areas.
JOURNALIST’S HOUSE LOOTED: Three dacoits looted the house of senior journalist Ijaz Hashmat Khan at People’s Colony here on Monday.
The dacoits broke into the house of Hashmat, took the family and servants hostage and made off with gold ornaments, a laptop, two TVs, mobile phones, two licensed guns, a car and other valuables. Meanwhile, a meeting of the Senior Working Journalists Forum was held under the chairmanship of Sajid Aleem. It condemned the dacoity in the house of Ijaz Hashmat Khan and demanded RPO Muhammad Ehsan Tufail and CPO Afzal Ahmad Kausar depute a police team to arrest the dacoits. They also demanded them to order People’s Colony police to register a case under the Anti-Terrorist Act.
Promotion of FDA clerical staff approved
FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Chairman Sheikh Ejaz Ahmad has approved the case concerning promotion of clerical staff of the FDA.
A spokesman for the FDA said that the promotion case had been pending for a long time. After approval of the promotion case, the clerical staff was celebrating and vowed to improve their performance, the spokesman added.
