KP governor visits varsity, hospital in Charsadda
PESHAWAR: Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan reached Bacha Khan University soon after the terrorist attack at the venue on Wednesday.The governor met officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army, police and rescue teams who carried out operation.
A detailed briefing was also given to the governor about the attack and the rescue operation, said a handout. He also visited different sections of the university affected by the attack.
Corps Commander Peshawar Lt-Gen Hidayatur Rehman, Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan, Inspector General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Nasir Khan Durrani, military and civil officers were also present.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif telephoned the governor and discussed the situation arising out of the terrorist attack. The prime minister condemned the attack on Bacha Khan University and expressed his grief over the loss of lives. He vowed to bust terrorists’ network.
Later, the governor also visited the DHQ Hospital Charsadda where he inquired after the health of the victims. The governor went to each and every injured and met them. Talking to relatives of the victims on the premises of hospital, the governor expressed solidarity with them and examined the state of healthcare and treatment facilities being offered to them.
He directed the authorities to provide best medical treatment to the injured.Talking to media at the university premises, the governor denounced the attack and expressed grief and sorrow over loss of lives.
He paid tribute to the security and rescue personnel for their response. The governor said terrorism was a great challenge for the nation.
PESHAWAR: Peace Jirga, staged a protest demonstration outside Press Club on Wednesday, urging the government and law enforcing agencies to arrest the terrorists involved in Bacha Khan University attack and eliminate anti-state and anti-people elements.The president Peace Jirga, Syed Mohammad Anjum Hussain, led the protestors, who demanded strict action against the terrorists so that the people could take a sigh of relief.
