LAHORE
The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) recovered 100 children from 11 brick kilns in the provincial capital on Wednesday.
Officials said children were recovered by District Coordination Officer Lahore Capt. (R) Muhammad Usman who paid surprise raids on dozens of brick kilns located alongside the BRB Canal and in the Batapur localities to check the child labour.
Officials said Assistant Commissioners of Cantt, Shalimar and officials of the towns were also present.
During the inspection, the raiding teams traced out 11 brick kilns where children were doing work.
The district coordination officer Lahore took stern action and got lodged FIRs against the owners of kilns besides sealing all of them. The teams also recovered 100 children who were being admitted to schools for education.
Similarly, the district coordination officer Lahore also inspected brick kilns of Batapur and found one violation of child labour.
An FIR was lodged against its owner while one assistant was captured on the spot. The recovered two children were being enrolled in the school for education.
The district coordination officer Lahore said District Administration had been inspecting all brick kilns of the city and would not allow any kiln owner to have child labour.
