Workers warn of boycotting anti-polio campaign
From Our Correspondent
MULTAN: Polio workers on Monday staged a demonstration against nutrition supervisor Robina for her alleged misbehaviour with a female polio worker.
The polio workers gathered in front of the Health Department Office under the leadership of Polio Programme Lady Health Workers’ president Rukhsana and chanted slogans against the alleged misbehaviour of the nutrition supervisor with polio worker Kishwar Sultana. Talking to The News, Rukhsana said that nutrition supervisor Robina allegedly misbehaved with polio worker Kishwar Sultana and insulted her on phone. She said that Robina also got registered a case against Kishwar’s 14-year-old son Haroon in the Gulgasht police station for threatening her of dire consequences on Jan 15. The protesting workers demanded immediate quashment of the case. Meanwhile, talking to The News, EDO Health Dr Iftikhar Qureshi said that accused Haroon allegedly threatened nutrition supervisor Robina and a case had been registered against him.
Online adds: The protesting lady health workers threatened to boycott the anti-polio campaign due from February 14 if stern action was not taken against the responsible persons.
During the protest, employees of the EDO office also chanted slogans in favour of the EDO Health, which turned the protest into a scuffle. The EDO office employees also pushed away the female protesters and tore off their placards. Later, police rushed to the spot and dispersed the protesters.
