Mamnoon for expanding ties with New Zealand
ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday underscored the need for highlighting Pakistan’s liberal investment policy and called for efforts to convince New Zealand companies to invest in sectors of agriculture dairy livestock and renewable energy in Pakistan.
He was talking to Pakistan’s High Commissioner-designate to New Zealand Afrasiab Mehdi Hashmi who called on him here at the Aiwan-i-Sadr. The president called for expanding trade ties in diverse sectors as vast opportunities existed to realize the true potential. He asked the High Commissioner-designate to make efforts for early consideration of market access for Pakistani mangoes by New Zealand as granted by the latter to other countries.
The president advised the high commissioner-designate to focus on increasing cooperation in the fields of education and culture.He said Pakistani students studying in New Zealand can be a bridge to further enhance bilateral relations. The president emphasized on increase in exchange of trade and cultural delegations for furthering ties between the two countries. He advised the high commissioner-designate to make efforts for opening of a resident mission in Islamabad by New Zealand to strengthen bilateral relations. He congratulated Mehdi on his appointment and hoped that his appointment will further strengthen Pakistan’s multifaceted relations with New Zealand.
