Groundbreaking of country’s first insulated grid station
Ch Sher appeals to Nawaz not to privatise Fesco
From Our Correspondent
FAISALABAD: The foundation stone laying ceremony of the first-ever gas insulated grid station in the country was held at Gharibabad here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, former MNA Ch Sher Ali said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was taking keen interest in development of energy projects in Faisalabad. On the request of State Minister for Water and Power Ch Abid Sher Ali, the prime minister had ordered to end loadshedding for the industrial sector in Faisalabad and now round-the-clock electricity was available for the sector, the former MNA added.
He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the time of assuming the charge of his office had promised to convert Pakistan as an Asian Tiger and put an end to power loadshedding from the country. These promises, he added, were now being fulfilled by signing agreements with Chinese companies.
He criticised those, who were opposing the government and creating hurdles to construction of vital Kalabagh Dam and to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Ch Sher Ali appealed to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif not to privatise the Fesco, which was running in profit.
Earlier, Fesco Chief Executive Officer Ch Rashid Aslam, in his welcome address, said that the company had acquired a loan of Rs 880 million from the ADB for the project. He said that the project would be completed before October 2016. He claimed that the Fesco was the best company in the power sector throughout Asia. After completion of the on-going projects of new grid stations, loadshedding would completely be eliminated from Faisalabad. MNA Haji Akram Ansari, MPA Tahir Jameel and others attended the function.
