Call to upgrade teachers’ pay scales
From Our Correspondent
MULTAN: The Punjab SES Teachers Association has demanded the government upgrade teachers’ pay scales and promote the ESTs to the rank of the SSTs.
Addressing a meeting here on Thursday, SES Teachers Association Women Wing president Sadia Ishtiaq said that the Punjab government had issued notification of clerical staff up-gradation and ignored the teachers in the province waiting for up-gradation since long.
She said that Sindh, Balochistan and KP provinces had upgraded teachers’ pay scales except Punjab. Sadia said that hundreds of teachers had been waiting for promotion from EST to SES since long. She demanded regularisation of contract teachers and restoration all perks which the government abolished in the past.
Teacher Noreen Munawar rejected the government proposal of handing over schools to the NGOs. Punjab SES Teachers Association Executive Committee members Lubna Latif, Marium Ashiq, Tabassum Shaheen, Bushra Naz, Samar Ehsan, Abida Perveen, Sumaira Umer, Sultana, Farzana Perveen and Surriya Perveen also attended meeting.
