Hockey umpire Kamran Sharif announces retirement
KARACHI: Senior international umpire Kamran Sharif announced his retirement at the end of the second quarter-final of the 62nd National Hockey Championship here on Wednesday, played between PIA and PTV.
Kamran started his umpiring career in 1994 and supervised 48 international matches in Asia Junior Cup, Azalan Shah Cup, Youth World Cup and World Super League.
Kamran said in a statement that he was leaving his place for a vibrant youngster to join this sacred profession.
He thanked Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) for its trust in him and his colleagues with whom he supervised a number of domestic tournaments.
Kamran said he would always be available to serve the PHF. “If I am offered any assignment in the PHF, I will accept it,” the retiring umpire said.
