Twin cities log 6 more deaths, 270 new cases

Rawalpindi : Coronavirus illness, COVID-19 has claimed another six lives from Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours that is the highest number of deaths caused by the infection in a day in the region after May 31 while 270 new patients have been tested positive from the twin cities in the last 24 hours.

To date, the virus has claimed a total of 1,816 lives from the region from where a total of 112,288 patients have so far been reported positive for COVID-19.

Data collected by ‘The News’ on Tuesday reveals that three patients died of COVID-19 from Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours taking the death toll from the district to 1,020 while 103 new patients have been reported from Rawalpindi.

Confirmation of 103 patients positive for COVID-19 from Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours has taken tally to 26,341 of which 24,588 patients have recovered.

On Tuesday, the number of active cases from the district was recorded as 733 of which 80 patients were undergoing treatment at the healthcare facilities in the district while 653 were in home isolation.

Meanwhile, the virus has claimed three more lives from the federal capital in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 796 while 167 new patients have been tested positive from ICT taking the tally to 85,947. To date, a total of 82,721 patients belonging to ICT have recovered while the number of active cases from the federal capital has got to 2,430 on Tuesday after the addition of 71 active cases to the existing pool.
