788m ton waste disposed of in Abbottabad
ABBOTTABAD: The Water and Sanitation Services Abbottabad( WSSCA) has lifted record 788 million ton of waste during the three days of Eidul Azha.
Media Manager WSSCA Umar Swati told reports that 130 collection points were established in four union councils and 125 workers were performing duty.
“The round-the-clock operation remain operative for three days and all the wastes of sacrificial animals were dumped in the specially prepared trenches in the Salhad waste dump and later were covered with mud and sand,” he said, adding in 25 vehicles were used in the drive.
Cleanliness drive, he said, was started through the help of Ulema, media and notables of the areas especially the ex-local bodies members.
“More than 4,000 disposable bags were also distributed and request was made to not to throw
waste in streets but at the designated points and general public followed the instructions, which enabled the WASSCA staff to remove the garbage and waste quickly,” he added.Meanwhile, Akram Zaki , Chief Executive of WASSCA, lauded the services of entire sanitation team and supervisory staff who had worked day and night.
