Haripur city to get potable water thru Rs210m project
PESHAWAR: Provincial Minister for Local Government, Elections, Rural Development and Parliamentary Affairs Akbar Ayub Khan said on Sunday that the completion of mega water supply scheme in Haripur is an historic achievement of the government as the water depleting city will get basic necessity like clean drinking water round the clock in future at a cost of Rs210 million.
The minister was talking to a delegation of the media and elite of Haripur during his brief visit to the area. Akbar Ayub Khan said that a relief agency called KFWO has started work on the project in collaboration with the German government.
“Under this magnificent project, 30km of distribution and 60km to 62km of main pipelines are being laid in the city whereas 6 new tube-wells have been completed in urban areas while the process of laying pipelines is in full swing,” he maintained.
Both the water supply schemes would be sufficient to cater the needs of potable and healthy watear of all the population of the city.
Akbar Ayub Khan said that besides addressing the issue of water scarcity in Haripur, the drainage system along both sides of the Hazara Highway was being improved on war footing.
“Construction of 3,500 meters drains and RCC box culverts is also in the pipeline with a cost of Rs750 million,” he revealed. The provincial minister said the PTI-led KP government had focused on making life easier for the common man.
