Smart City project made operational in DG Khan
LAHORE:Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has said Smart City project in Dera Ghazi Khan district will bring peace, control crime and maintain law and order.
The chief minister congratulated DG Khan DPO Omar Saeed and praised his performance in making Smart City project operational. The chief minister said the project would bring peace and maintain law and order in the district. He said in modern times it is not possible to improve service delivery without effective use of information technology and DPO Omar Saeed Malik is one of the professional officers who maintain high standards of policing as per the requirements of modern times.
Briefing the CM on the occasion of inauguration of Smart City project at Police Lines DG Khan, DPO Omar Saeed Malik said Smart City in the style of Safe City Lahore will prove to be a revolutionary project for crime control, traffic management and monitoring because under this project not only CCTV cameras have been installed at sensitive places in the entire city but also all matters related to policing have been brought together under one roof. He said that the purpose of setting up Smart City is to provide all modern police facilities to the people under one roof which will not only reduce crime but also help in tracing the culprits.
He said equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the 15 system has also been linked to Smart City where Smart City staff and police personnel both are on duty in three shifts and, all the police stations are being monitored by cameras.
The DPO thanked the CM and said more projects would be launched in the future to improve the convenience and service delivery of people in the style of Smart City and more cameras in DG Khan City would be connected with Smart City in collaboration with the business community.
Meanwhile, On the direction of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, six officers have been removed from their posts on public complaints and dereliction of duties during his visit to DG Khan. Additional Deputy Commissioner (revenue), Muzaffargarh, Imran Shams, tehsildar Aftab Iqbal, director anti-corruption Hafiz Ahmed Tariq, XEN Highways Gulfam Iqbal, MS Teaching Hospital Dr Athar Farooq and Superintendent Central Jail Yasir Khan have been removed from their posts on public complaints and dereliction of duties. The CM made it clear that the officers failing to take timely actions for solution to people’s problems have no place in Punjab.
“I have behaved gently till now,” he said, and asserted that the officers must have to deliver while setting aside tradition of colonial mindset. Immediate action will be taken if any negligence is found anywhere, he warned.
Public feedback and tours help to understand ground realities, he continued and reiterated that those delivering to the masses will remain in their posts. The officers should mend their ways and strive to come up to the public expectations, the CM said.
