SC refers 75 lecturers’ case to PHC
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Tuesday referred a case to the Peshawar High Court (PHC) concerning regularisation of 67 lecturers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Grade 17. A three-member bench — comprising Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan and Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi — heard the case. The court observed that a civil servant in Grade 17 could only be recruited through the Federal Public Service Commission. Additional advocate general said the employees were recruited in a project and then made permanent. Justice Ijaz said first backdoor recruitments were made and then made permanent by bringing an Act. "These appointments were also made through the backdoor contracts and made permanent," he added. Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed remarked that the employees working on contract could not be regularized in Grade 17 without the FPSC test.
