PPP a party of Zardari, not Bhutto: Qureshi
MULTAN: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said the PPP is not a party of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto but a party of Zardari. Bhutto’s ideas have been buried. Today is the 12th year that the PPP has ruled Sindh. The situation in Sindh is unpredictable.
Corruption is skyrocketing in Sindh and it is rampant in every institution. The PPP will be wiped out from Sindh. The PTI will take over Sindh in the next elections, he said. He expressed these views while addressing receptions during his visit to various union councils of his constituency in Multan. He said many crises were inherited when the PTI government came into power. There were many difficulties in the beginning. The government made difficult decisions. People faced burden, but they supported the economy and now, by the grace of Allah, the country is moving towards growth. With economic growth, prosperity will come to the country and new job opportunities will be created. Today the rate of remittances has exceeded the rate of exports. “We are grateful to Pakistanis abroad for the record remittances. He said Pakistanis abroad are our precious assets and are playing an important role in the economic development of the country. We want them to be involved in the promotion of democracy and political journey in the country. We want to make them part of the ongoing political process in the country for which we want to give them the right to vote.”
He said today there is a technology that can be used by Pakistanis abroad to help Pakistan and become its stakeholders. The ongoing development projects in Multan would be completed soon. In the coming days, Multan would be counted among the developed cities. He said the United States is an important country. “We have very good relations with the United States. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have self-esteem.” Qureshi said they want to strengthen relations on the basis of equality. “Peace in Afghanistan is our top priority. We feel the pain of Afghan people. Peace in Afghanistan will benefit the whole region.”
He said Pakistan does not want more war in Afghanistan. If the situation in Afghanistan deteriorates, Pakistan will be most affected after Afghanistan. He said the Afghan leadership has a responsibility to bring peace to Afghanistan. Pakistan looks forward to expand bilateral trade with Afghanistan. A new agreement can increase the volume of trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan, he said.
