PHF website, Facebook page, Twitter account soon
KARACHI: The Pakistan Hockey Federation’s (PHF) official website which has been delayed for the past several years is nearing to completion and will be formally launched on the final day of the National Championship on January 10, ‘The News’ learnt on Friday.
Tournament director Olympian Qamar Ibrahim confirmed that the PHF website would be formally launched on the final day.
The PHF would also create its Facebook page and Twitter account, he said.
Qamar further said that an IT specialist, Jafar Siddiqui, is readying the website (www.pakistanhockeyfederation.org) and its Facebook page and Twitter account.
The website is part of the PHF’s programme to revive the national game. PHF’s website had been launched in early 2001, but neither was it upgraded nor maintained properly.
Qamar said that the details of the national championship would also be available on the website. He mentioned that the website would carry the entire history of Pakistan hockey.
Qamar said that the website would also have an Urdu page to enable a wider section of sports followers to be in knowledge of hockey activities.
He said that the website would have news, articles, schedules of domestic and international events, and FIH reports.
He said that the archive would be its main feature as Pakistan has a rich legacy in the world of hockey. “Details of all our successes and about our heroes will be available in the archive,” he said.
