PHC orders release of Mufti Kifayatullah
MANSEHRA: The Abbottabad-circuit bench of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) has ordered the release of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) leader Mufti Kifayatullah in the high treason case on Friday.
“The Abbottabad-circuit beach has ordered the release of JUI-F leader Mufti Kifayatullah and we expect his release within a couple of days on completion of the legal formalities,” Mohammad Bilal Khan, the counsel for Mufti Kifayatullah, told reporters here.
Justice Shakeel Ahmad, after hearing arguments from both sides, announced the release of the jailed JUI-F leader. Mansehra police had arrested Mufti Kifayatullah on April 14, 2021 after lodging a first information report against him under sections 503/505-506 and 21-A, 124-A AND 131-A and 153-A of Ppc.
Muhamamd Bilal Khan advocate said that his client Mufti Kifayatullah had first moved the additional district and sessions judge, Mansehra, for his bail but withdrew his petition when the anti-terrorism department incorporated the high treason sections of law in the FIR.
