ISLMABAD: In a historic first, Ogilvy Pakistan won two Grand Prixes for Telenor Pakistan at this year’s Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity. This was the first time that any advertising agency had won the most prestigious award for the country, says a press release received here on Tuesday.
Ogilvy Pakistan won the Grand Prixes in the Media (Corporate Purpose and Social Responsibility) and the Mobile (Insights) categories. Apart from the two Grand Prixes, Ogilvy Pakistan also bagged a gold in the Sustainable Development Goals (reduced inequalities) category and two Silver Lions in Mobile (mobile led creativity) and the Direct (cultural insights) categories as well. All of this flew for its campaign of “Naming the invisible by Digital Birth Registration” Campaign for Telenor Pakistan, by utilising the mobile technology to provide digital birth registration for 1.3 million ‘invisible’ children in the country.
The Cannes Lion’s Festival of Creativity is a five-day affair dedicated to celebrating creativity and great ideas where the greatest creative minds come together to evaluate and acknowledge thousands of ideas and to hand over a limited number of lions to the most impactful and game-changing ideas.
The festival is based upon the ideal that creativity has become a driving force for businesses, for change and for good in the world. The creative solutions are more effective, creative brands are more successful and creative communications are more impactful. The brands and agencies from the world over compete and dream to be a part most prestigious advertising and creativity awards known to man.
“We are all truly honored and immensely proud to have been the agency behind this historic and iconic win for Pakistan. What makes it truly special is the fact that it is the first-ever Grand Prix win by an agency in Pakistan and winning this with a team of entirely home-grown resources is an award in itself. This is a testament to Ogilvy Pakistan’s drive and ambition of creating the most compelling work for our clients. We have proven this with our collaboration and partnership with Telenor Pakistan, that has been touring the leading global advertising award platforms and winning in almost all prestigious shows. These mighty wins are a result of a true team effort, and hopefully the best is still yet to come,” said Asim Naqvi, the CEO of Ogilvy Pakistan.
