Nawaz’ cousin Mian Tariq Shafi dies
LAHORE: Former premier Nawaz Sharif’s cousin and renowned industrialist Mian Muhammad Tariq Shafi died of cardiac arrest here Monday.
He was also the cousin of Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif. PMLN sources said he suffered a heart attack which proved fatal. The deceased was also the brother-in-law of PMLN leader and ex-MNA Sohail Zia Butt. The deceased was director of Ittefaq Group of Companies. PMLN President Shehbaz Sharif has postponed his scheduled visit to Islamabad to attend funeral prayers of his cousin. Traders and industrialists’ bodies also expressed grief over the demise of Tariq Shafi, who worked hard for the cause of business community.
Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) office-bearers have condoled the death of former LCCI vice president. In a condolence message, LCCI President Mian Tariq Misbah, Senior Vice President Nasir Hameed Khan and Vice President Tahir Manzoor Chaudhry said the entire business community is saddened due to sudden death of a seasoned and polite human being.
“His services for the cause of business community will always be remembered. As LCCI VP, Tariq Shafi rendered matchless services for the cause of trade, industry and economy. His demise is an irreparable loss,” they said. They prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
