Positivity ratio in Pindi jumps to 2.26pc: One dies of Covid-19, 62 test positive in twin cities

Rawalpindi: Coronavirus illness, COVID-19 claimed one more life from Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours taking the death toll from the district to 992 while 62 new patients were tested positive from the twin cities taking the tally to 107,193.

The virus did not claim any life from Islamabad Capital Territory in the last five days though as many as 775 patients had already lost their lives due to COVID-19 from the federal capital. To date, a total of 1,767 patients have died of COVID-19 from the twin cities.

Data collected by ‘The News’ on Thursday reveals that the positivity rate of COVID-19 in Rawalpindi district has once again jumped to over two per cent in the last 24 hours. According to In-charge District COVID-19 Cell Rawalpindi Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Jawad Zahid, out of 1459 tests conducted for COVID-19 in the district, 33 patients including 23 belonging to Rawalpindi have been confirmed positive registering positivity rate as 2.26 per cent.

He informed ‘The News’ that to date, a total of 63,4510 individuals have been vaccinated against the infection including 60,4188 persons from the general public and 30,322 persons from health sector.

According to details, confirmation of 23 new patients positive from the district has taken tally to 24,723 on Thursday of which 23,581 patients have recovered while the number of active cases belonging to the district has been recorded as 150. On Thursday, as many as 19 patients were undergoing treatment at the healthcare facilities in town while 131 patients were in home isolation in Rawalpindi district.
