Superintendent suspended for allowing inmateto hold party in jail

KARACHI: The superintendent of the district jail Malir has been suspended on Wednesday after allegedly providing facilities to hold engagement ceremony of the son of an inmate, Nisar Morai.

Reports said jail superintendent Aslam Malik was suspended for allegedly providing facilities to hold the engagement ceremony of the son of the former chairman Fishermen Cooperative Society Nisar Ahmed Morai. “With the approval of competent authority, chief minister Sindh, the services of Muhammad Aslam Malik, Senior Superintendent of Prisons, District Prison and Correctional Facility Malir, Karachi, is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect. The headquarters of Aslam Malik, during the period of his suspension, shall be at home department,” reads the suspension order issued by chief secretary Sindh Mumtaz Ali Shah. It has been reported that Nisar Morai had arranged a party in jail to celebrate the engagement ceremony of his son, which was attended by his friends and relatives, while the jail administration provided him facilities to hold the party. Meanwhile, Syed Irshad Hussain has been appointed as new superintendent.
