KARACHI: An incident of alleged gold theft has taken place at a private bank, when a man claimed to be deprived of around 250 tola gold that he kept in a locker of the bank in Karachi. The incident brought into the notice after the citizen had approached the bank’s locker and found the locker was empty. While talking to ‘The News’, the Deputy Inspector General South Zone, Karachi, Javed Akbar Riaz confirmed, “The bank’s client visited the bank after one and a half year and found his locker was empty.” The officer said the bank’s client who was deprived of his gold, claimed that total 250 tola gold was kept at the locker, while the locker was found empty. He explained that the circumstantial evidences strongly suggest the involvement of the bank’s internal staff, as the locker was neither broken nor opened. The police officer said even not every bank staff is allowed to enter the locker’s section, and only concerned staff have access to the locker’s room after completing the formalities like registration and approvals.
