Vaccine shortages

June 20, 2021

This is to draw the attention of the authorities to the shortage of vaccine doses in Karachi. Some vaccination centres are temporarily closed. At other centres, many people, who were eligible for the second dose, went back since the centres didn’t have the doses of the specific vaccine – for second doses, people must receive the same vaccine as their first shot. On the other hand, many people haven’t been able to receive the first dose of the vaccine.

Another problem that many people are facing is that there is not enough information about the vaccine. The government and the media must work together to create awareness among people and inform them about the availability of vaccine doses. The authorities concerned should look into this matter on an urgent basis and resolve it immediately.

Pakistanis who are stuck here are running from pillar to post in search of the Covid-19 vaccine. Many countries have issued a list of the approved vaccines, and a majority of Pakistanis don’t know where those vaccines are available. In addition, the sudden shortage of vaccine doses has created more problems for people who were waiting to fly back to their countries. The government’s vaccination drive was commendable. It is hoped that the authorities will quickly resolve this issue and ensure that all vaccination centres have sufficient stocks of vaccines.
