Decrease in power tariff for industry hailed

MULTAN: The business community has hailed the announcement of Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif for Rs 3 per unit reduction in electricity tariff for industrial users and termed the announcement a good decision for export sector.
In a press statement, Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Fareed A Sheikh said that electricity tariff reduction shows that the government wants to provide relief to the industrial sector. The MCCI president said that recent cut in power tariff would bring down the cost of industrial production and Pakistani products would get their due share in the international market. He said that the government should make more reduction in electricity prices in near future as a large quantity of electricity was being generated through thermal resources. He said that hefty increase in the electricity prices in recent years had created multiple challenges for the industrial sector but hoped that now situation would take a positive turn. He said that this decision would have an overall impact on the national economy. He said that the cost of production would be reduced by taking such positive steps.
