Mardan police launch campaign against drugs
MARDAN: District police launched a special campaign against drugs, particularly ice, across the district here on Thursday.
Speaking to journalists at Meet the Press
event on Thursday, District Police Officer Dr Zahidullah Khan said that a Special Education Unit of Mardan Police along with the staff of educational institutions would organise lectures on the ill effects of ice and other drugs to save the students from the menace.
The DPO said that raising awareness among students is the need of the hour as ice is one of the
most lethal drugs. He said the police have set up special squads under sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs) that will work out and trace the cases of drug trafficking, particularly at educational institutions.
He also said that Mardan police have blocked the computerised national identity cards (CNICs) of 570 outlaws while the passports of 233 others have been blocked as part of a crackdown launched by the cops across Mardan district.
Dr Zahid added that the bank accounts of 137 proclaimed offenders have also been blocked to tighten the noose around them.
“We also have prepared the personal files of 15 hired assassins, 103 accused in sexual offences, 33 people involved in the business of usury, and 75 land mafia accused and soon they will be in the dock,” he added.
