PHC extends Amir Muqam’s BBA
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday extended the bail before arrest of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Amir Muqam till July 14.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had issued an arrest warrant for Amir Muqam for his alleged corruption and accumulation of wealth beyond his known sources.
The PML-N leader had obtained bail before arrest from the court.
On Wednesday, a division bench headed by Justice Lal Jan Khattak adjourned the case till July 13.
Talking to reporters outside the court, the PML-N leader said he did not know what wrong he had committed. He added that those involved in sugar and flour scandals were roaming free.
Amir Muqam said the country was worst hit by inflation due to the flawed policies of the government. He said the government has violated the sanctity of the parliament.
Meanwhile, the PHC has dismissed a petition against the verdict of a lower court in the Aurat March case.
The bench headed by PHC Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan asked whether any action had been taken against the organisers of the march or anyone had been arrested.
The lawyer for the petitioners said neither any arrest had been made nor action taken against the organisers.
Dismissing the case, the PHC said that petition could not be heard on mere speculations as no action has been taken against any of the organisers.
