COVID-19 claims one more life in twin cities

Islamabad: The number of patients being tested positive for coronavirus illness, COVID-19 from Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district has registered a sharp decline on the second consecutive day as in the last 24 hours, 46 new patients have been tested positive for the disease, which is the lowest number of cases reported in a day from the region after October 5, 2020.

In the last 24 hours, the virus claimed another life from ICT taking death toll from the federal capital to 772 while no death was reported from Rawalpindi district from where a total of 987 patients had lost their lives due to COVID-19.

Confirmation of 46 new patients from the twin cities has taken the total number of patients so far reported from the region to 106,725 of which 82,139 have been reported from ICT. In the last 24 hours, 40 new patients have been registered from the federal capital.

A total of 79,710 patients have recovered from the illness in ICT where the number of active cases of the disease has reduced to 1,657 on Monday after recovery of 361 patients in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, only six new patients have been tested positive from Rawalpindi district taking tally to 24,586 of which 23,376 patients have achieved cure. On Monday, a total of 24 confirmed patients were undergoing treatment at the healthcare facilities in town while 199 confirmed patients belonging to the district were in home isolation.
