ACE arrests Sargodha jail ex-superintendent
LAHORE : Anti-Corruption Establishment Sargodha on Saturday arrested ex-superintendent District Jail Sargodha Javed Iqbal Khichi after allegations of extortion, blackmailing and misuse of power against him and four others proved in an inquiry.
A case against him and his four other accomplices including Deputy Superintendent of District Jail Sargodha Imran Butt was registered in ACE Police Station Sargodha on same allegations and raids were being conducted to arrest the other culprits. Reportedly, Aslam Naveed, ex-mayor Sargodha, was arrested by ACE in FIR # 15/20 PS ACE Sargodha and was sent to jail on judicial custody on 18-11-2020. During this judicial custody, Superintendent Jail Javed Iqbal Khichi in collaboration with Deputy Superintendent Imran Butt and others extorted money and other benefits from Aslam Naveed for giving him illegal favours like continuous stay in the jail hospital instead of barracks, supply of food from home, arranging special meetings with family and visitors and allowing him to use his personal official landline phone, etc.
Javed Khichi also got a stamp-paper signed by Aslam Naveed for sale of a plot in the name of one Yasin, brother of Shan Ali, a jail employee serving Javed Khichi as his Ardali against a very low price. Javed Iqbal Khichi and Imran Butt received Rs500,000 from Aslam Naveed for a vehicle and other personal requirements. Imran Butt, Deputy Superintendent Jail, received Rs500,000 for purchase of a pistol from Aslam Naveed. He also received other gifts/favours as bribe from him. Both of the accused plotted in connivance with others and extorted Rs6000,000 from the wife of Aslam Naveed in the name of a senior officer of a security institution.
The allegations were inquired by the Home Department and it forwarded a reference with an initial probe report to ACE for a legal action against the accused.
ACE Sargodha Region after a thorough inquiry registered the subject case against Javed Khichi, Imran Butt and three others under section 161/262, 419 PPC and 5 (2/47) PCA. Javed Khichi was arrested while raids are being conducted to arrest the other culprits.
