Verdict in Benazir murder case soon, says Aitzaz Ahsan
Khursheed says Federation’s ‘interference’ in
provincial affairs will be harmful
SUKKUR: Investigation into the murder case of Benazir Bhutto is in final stages, and the verdict will be announced soon.
This was stated by a senior leader of the Pakistan People’s Party, Senator Aitzaz Ahsan, while talking to the media at the Sukkur Airport on Sunday before going to Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto.
He said that an article of the Constitution says that the provinces can get assistance from the Centre on their own terms and conditions, and that’s why the Sindh government protested against the Centre over the Rangers’ powers.
Aitzaz Ahsan said that the stance of Sindh is justified in which it demanded that the Rangers before taking any action should inform the Sindh government. He said that the conditions put by the Sindh government to the Centre over the Rangers powers were justified, and that the Centre would have to respect provincial autonomy.
Meanwhile, Qamar Zaman Kaira said on the occasion that the absence of Bilawal had been questioned when the PPP co-chairman was present in Pakistan, but now the absence of Asif Zardari was being questioned.
The Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Shah, said that the federation’s interference in provincial affairs would be harmful, adding that the PM’s silence over the issue was “meaningful”.“The federal government instead of vesting powers in Sindh is depriving it, and the PM’s silence in such a situation is meaningful,” he said.
